The curfew imposed in the violence-hit Karauli in Rajasthan has been extended till April 17 considering the law and order situation in the city.
However, the administration has announced a two-day relaxation in curfew from April 15-16. The markets will remain open from morning 6-00 am till evening 6-00 pm.
This development comes after communal clashes erupted in the city following the alleged stone-pelting at a bike rally passing through a Muslim-dominated area on Nav Samvatsar, the Hindu New Year on April 2, leading to incidents of arson and vandalism.
The rally was taken out by right-wing organisations, including the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP), the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the Bajrang Dal, police said.
Around 35 people were injured in the violence.
